I put down my paintbrush upon graduation from college and started my career as a graphic designer. I have worked in the field for over 35 years now and continue to work as an Art Director. In the blink of an eye, we were empty nesters, and I found myself feeling the need to start a new chapter. So, I picked up a paintbrush again, and started my new creative adventure.
Acrylic paint is my medium of choice, but I have chosen to add various forms of texture to take my artwork to a new dimension. I feel like I have been on an amazing journey as I explore the use of corrugated cardboard, aluminum foil, hand-painted papers, and anything else I can think of to incorporate into my artwork. After purchasing many items from the art supply store, I have turned to the local hardware store to enhance my creations. My journey has led me from realistic to abstract, with a style I call, "Perfectly Imperfect," somewhere in between. I have used a large selection of palette knives, brushes and also non-traditional objects to create different styles. As an artist, I have decided to do a variety of subjects, in a variety of styles, instead of choosing just one style that represents me.
I feel as though I put a little piece of my heart in every piece I create and my artistic soul helps guide me through my choice of colors and mediums.
Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to view my artwork.
Sincerely,
Sherie (Grimm) Thompson
